Lime Review - Screen

A generic looking Jason Statham vehicle with a basic premise and rather bland title.

This must be a forgettable little movie, right? WRONG!

Safe is probably the best and most originally directed movie of this type that we can think of. The plot sees grizzled former-cop Statham taking on protection duties when a young girls life is in danger. What follows is a manic series of action sequences and utterly bonkers dialogue which has its tongue firmly in its cheek.

Statham has great fun essentially playing himself. The brand is now strong enough to be parodied by the man himself, and he is fully in on the joke. The neat and economical direction is perfect for the material. It keeps you on your toes and keeps you guessing just how far the film will go in terms of an effective send-up.

The answer is all the way. Bravo.
