BT River of Music- Africa Stage

An amazing new Festival site in the heart of Docklands, London Pleasure Gardens will host the Africa Stage for BT River of Music.
Injecting 21st century culture into the core of Olympic East London, this brand new venue will witness a weekend of incredible live music with performances from Africa’s greatest stars to it’s emerging new voices. Among the line-up are Angelique Kidjo, Baaba Maal, Staff Benda Bilili, King Sunny Ade and The Noisettes.
BT River of Music is a spectacular weekend of free music from across the 205 Olympic and Paralympic nations, presented at iconic sites along the River Thames on 21 and 22 July 2012. BT River of Music is part of the London 2012 Festival. It is supported by National Lottery funds through the Olympic Lottery Distributor, Arts Council England and is produced by Serious. The Africa Stage is presented in partnership with London Pleasure Gardens and Southbank Centre.
Sited in the heart of the Olympic East End, London Pleasure Gardens is a major new 35k capacity arts and entertainment destination. Opening on the 30th June with Paradise Gardens and in place for 3 years, the 20 acre riverside site features open-air concerts, dance and theatre arenas, historic and contemporary architecture, an urban nature reserve, a boutique hotel and a floating cocktail bar. London Pleasure Gardens provides scope for both global and local audiences to experience world-class musical acts and DJs, circus and promenade performances, film screenings, visual art, community projects and family activities.
