Black Star

Talib Kweli and Mos Def are back! Black Star are set to release a belated follow-up to 1998’s critically acclaimed album ‘Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Black Star’.

The two have continued to make music together over the years. Poppin up on soundtracks and guesting on each other’s album but it’s now been confirmed that the much rumoured second release is due some time in 2012.

Ayah Marar

Born in Jordon she moved to London aged 18. She’s been a regular on the drum and bass scene for years and co-owns the label Luck Devil Music.

She’s also recorded with artists such as former flat mate Calvin Harris and Jack Penate.

She can currently be found on Yogi’s latest single ‘Follow U’ and the Camo and Krooked track ‘Cross the Line’.

Lady Leshurr

Lady Leshurr started making music at the age of six. She made her first mix tape at 16.

Lady Leshurr played Glastonbury Introducing stage in 2010 and she’s been gained attention since then.

She has supported Wiley on his UK tour and she featured on the Bigga Fish tour with Lethal B and Ghetts.

Lady Leshurr’s talents don’t just stop at music she had a lead role in 2009 film ‘One Day’.

Her debut single ‘Lego’ was released on the 21st of November via her Gutter Strut label.

Dominique Young Unique

Aged just 19 Dominique released her first mix tape last year and she is gaining attention. From Tampa Bay she is part club and part hip hop, but all talent.

She has a love of fashion and got the chance to model for Katie Eary at this year’s London Fashion Week.

Backstage she met fellow rapper/fashionista Kanye West and it appears as if a collabo between the two could be imminent. Her latest mix tape is ‘Stupid Pretty’ and videos for most tracks featured can be found online.

Pusha T

One half of Clipse, he’s signed to Kanye West’s G.O.O.D music. He followed up a mix tape released earlier this year with his debut album ‘Fear of God II – Let Us Pray’ on November 8.

As you’d expect The Neptunes take production credits on a couple of the songs and guest spots are taken by 50 Cent, Rick Ross among others.

Childish Gambino

The alter ego of actor/comedian Donald Glover, Childish Gambino signed to Glassnote records in 2011 and released his fourth (yes fourth) album Camp which debuted at number two on iTunes – one spot behind Drake.

His cult comedy show ‘Community’ is currently on hiatus. The only good thing that could come from its possible cancellation is even more action from Childish Gambino in 2012.

Frank OceanFrank Ocean

Originally from New Orleans Frank Ocean moved to LA to pursue music.

He has written for pretty much everyone, Brandy, John Legend, Beyoncé and even Justin Beiber.

He has featured on Tyler, and on the Jay-Z/Kanye West collabo ‘Watch the Throne’.

A member of collective Odd Future; his debut mix tape was released in February 2011 and this led to him getting signed to Def Jam.

Bridget Kelly

Bridget Kelly may look familiar to some. She popped up on our screens a few times in 2010 performing with Jay-Z as the stand in for Alicia Keys on ‘New York State of Mind’.

A graduate from Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts – other wise known as the school from Fame, Bridget is signed to ROC Nation. An EP titled ‘Every girl’ was released in October 2011 and she is working on her debut album.
